Skip LeMay was a longtime friend and supporter of WIDT and especially The Nutcracker. He was a company parent to Megan LeMay and was a community dancer in our productions of Giselle and Cinderella. He danced in The Nutcracker for many years as Mr. Green, Father and, finally, Grandfather.
Skip delighted in taking ballroom dance lessons to hone his craft and because it was incredibly fun! Skip was also a long-time backstage crew member for any and all productions and helped design, build and repair sets. He also served for several years on the WIDT board, including two years as Vice President.
While Skip's jovial nature and booming voice earned him many shushes backstage from earnest company dancers, he was a beloved presence. He thoroughly enjoyed watching the dancers growing up onstage throughout the years, feeling a fatherly affection and pride as each blossomed into amazing dancers and beautiful, young women, none more so than his own daughter, Megan. Despite her chagrin, he could never contain a shout of, "That's my daughter, Megan!" particularly when she graduated to choreographer of The Nutcracker Living Room scene in which he danced.
He had a big presence and a big heart, and there is a Skip-sized hole in our company, The Nutcracker production which he cherished, and our hearts. Skip LeMay will be sorely missed by all of WIDT, but our dancers will continue to grow and impress, and he will continue to be amazed and proud from a much better seat in the house.

Rest in peace, Skip LeMay.
